Now, the team that perfected premium whiskey touring is taking guests south to the highlands of Jalisco with The Agave Estate Experience: a four-day, fully hosted exploration of tequila’s birthplace.
While guests will have the opportunity to taste and enjoy some of the best tequilas in the world, this itinerary in Tequila Valley offers much more than tequila tasting flights. On their 4-day journey with Mint Julep Experiences and Experience Agave, guests will enjoy stays at boutique hotels, unforgettable dinners designed by top chefs, historic distilleries, and an expert host guiding them from start to finish. Here’s an in-depth look for what we have planned if you’re looking to be a part of the Agave Estate Experience.
Day 1: Arrival in Guadalajara
Your time in Tequila Valley begins with a private transfer from Guadalajara International Airport to Hotel Demetria, one of the city’s most architecturally striking boutique properties. Known for its modernist design and art-forward interiors, Demetria sets the tone: refined, intentional, and rooted in place.
After check-in, you’ll gather for an agave orientation and guided tequila tasting led by Experience Agave. This educational deep dive will guide you into the plant, production methods, and regional nuances that define true tequila.
Dinner on the first evening is at Alcalde, consistently ranked among Latin America’s top restaurants. Expect a chef-driven tasting menu highlighting Jalisco’s seasonal ingredients with modern precision. The night concludes with cocktails at Luperca, an intimate mezcal and tequila bar showcasing Mexico’s dynamic agave culture.
Day 2: Into the Tequila Valley
After breakfast, you’ll depart Guadalajara for the agave fields and red volcanic soils of the Tequila Valley.
The first hosted visit on this trip is to La Tequileña, a respected distillery known for traditional methods and expressive tequila profiles.
From there, it’s on to Amatitán for lunch, a tour, and tasting at Casa Herradura, hosted at the storied Ex-Hacienda San José del Refugio. With its stone courtyards and centuries-old production history, this hacienda embodies tequila heritage in architectural form.
That evening, you’ll check into Hotel Solar de las Ánimas, a colonial-style boutique hotel overlooking the central plaza in the town of Tequila. With balconies, cantera stone details, and views of the surrounding agave fields, it serves as the ideal base for a private dinner that captures the charm of this UNESCO-recognized region.
Day 3: Tequila Fortaleza, Cascahuín & A Grand Finale in Guadalajara
Day three continues with a tour, tasting, and lunch at Tequila Fortaleza, beloved by tequila aficionados for its stone tahona crushing process and small-batch philosophy.
Next, you’ll travel to El Arenal for a visit to Cascahuín, a distillery that balances generational knowledge with modern precision.
Returning to Guadalajara for the final evening, you’ll gather for dinner at Hueso, one of the city’s most visually iconic restaurants, known for its bone-white interior and inventive Mexican cuisine.
