Brew in the Lou Louisville beers tours are back in 2018! Visit three Kentucky craft breweries with Mint Julep Tours Sundays this winter and spring. We’ll stop at Against the Grain’s production facility or Goodwood’s brewery, Great Flood’s taproom and Monnik’s brewery for behind-the-scenes access tours and guided tasting flights.
What to Expect
Brew in the Lou tours depart from the Mint Julep Tours gift shop in the Galt House Hotel in downtown Louisville at 2 p.m. select Sundays. Tickets are required in advance. You’ll meet your brew guru who will lead the entire experience and then hit the road!
Learn Beer 101 including the differences between ales and lagers, top beer terms, and popular beer styles as you cruise in a Mint Julep Tours luxury vehicle between breweries.
First, you’ll stop at Against the Grain’s production facility (January through October tours – new tours to Goodwood added in November and December!) in Louisville’s Portland neighborhood. The massive beer factory includes a canning line, storage of thousands of ATG’s signature tall-boy cans, and top of the line brewing equipment. Known for their bold graphic design and outside the box beers, Against the Grain is a trailblazer in the Louisville beer scene.
The second destination is Great Flood taproom in the Highlands. This microbrewery is one of Louisville’s newest and fastest-growing operations. Started by a group of University of Louisville students in 2014, Great Flood is now producing and canning several trademark beers. Favorites include their toasted brown and IPA.
Your final stop is Monnik in Louisville’s Schnitzelburg neighborhood. The brewpub makes a variety of craft beers on site of all styles. Staples include a sweet milk stout and coffee-tinged IPA.
By the end of the afternoon, you’ll have a new appreciation for Kentucky’s growing craft beer community – and some fun swag from each destination.
You’ll return back to the Galt House Hotel in downtown Louisville around 6 p.m.
