Mint Julep Tour Bus to Jack Daniel's DistilleryYour guide will teach you the ins and outs of Tennessee whiskey on your ride from Nashville to Lynchburg. He or she will know what you’ll see and do at Jack Daniel’s and fill in the gaps in between for a well-rounded tour experience.

What you learn will depend on your group! If you’re all already connoisseurs, Mint Julep tour guides can tailor your experience accordingly. Total novices can also enjoy the trip if a Whiskey 101 class is needed. There’s no set script for your adventure.

You’ll travel in one of Mint Julep’s luxury vehicles – often a 23-passenger bus or 10-passenger executive transit. Each is clean and comfortable with huge windows to enjoy scenic small town Tennessee. Bottled water, cups and ice are provided.

Feel free to bring a smaller cooler of beverages to sip throughout the day or snacks to share. Beer, wine and spirits are all OK to bring on the bus, as long as you are of legal drinking age.

Jack Daniel’s Distillery Tour

The Angel’s Share Distillery Tour is an elevated option at Jack Daniel’s. Guests take a guided walk through the grounds of the distillery including several notable sites while learning the story of Jack Daniel. While other Nashville tour companies can’t guarantee a tour time or availability, we never go anywhere without a reservation!

See where Jack Daniel’s charcoal mellowing process starts in the rickyard. Stacks of wood Charcoal Mellowing at Jack Daniel'sare at the ready to be burned down to the perfect charcoal for whiskey making. If you’re lucky, you may even see the burn process at work. Jack Daniel’s only makes charcoal on an as-needed basis so its hard to predict but your best chances are usually early tours on weekdays.

Jack Daniel’s is one of the only distilleries in the world with a fire brigade on site. You’ll learn about the importance of fire safety in distilling – alcohol is highly flammable! – and see some vintage fire trucks. One of these includes an Old. No. 7 outfitter R.E.O. Speedwagon. Yes, R.E.O. Speedwagon was a vehicle before it was a band!

Your Jack Daniel’s tour continues to the very spot that make Jack decide to settle here in 1884.  “Stillhouse Hollow” includes a cave with natural spring water filtered through limestone ideal for making whiskey. Snap a photo with a life-size statue of Jack Daniel outside the cave spring.

Other sights on the “Angel’s Share” tour include inside Jack’s office, which is on the National Register of Historic Places. Hear the story of Jack and his safe, master distillers past and present, and the importance of Nathan “Nearest” Green.

Walk past the grain mill and through the distillery before finishing your distillery tour going through a barrel warehouse and into the tasting room.

Premium Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey Tasting

What sets the “Angel’s Share” experience apart is the premium tasting flight. You’ll get to try five different products including single barrel and limited edition whiskeys. Current offerings are Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel, Jack Daniel’s Barrel Proof, Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Rye, Jack Daniel’s Sinatra Select, and Jack Daniel’s No. 27 Gold. Tastings may change based on availability.

Jack Daniel's Distillery Tour Tasting Flight

The entire Jack Daniel’s experience lasts about 90 minutes. You’ll also have time to visit the White Rabbit Bottle Shop before you leave. Purchase limited Tennessee whiskey products, flavored whiskeys and more here – because Moore County is a dry county! You can’t buy it anywhere else in town. Custom engraved Jack Daniel’s bottles are also an option in the bottle shop. Be sure to stamp your Tennessee Whiskey Trail passport before you go!

Bonus Lynchburg Experiences

No tour of Jack Daniel’s hometown would be complete without a trip to Lynchburg’s courthouse square. The charming and historic small town includes many shops with Jack Daniel’s souvenirs. Plus locally made candies, barbecue restaurants and art galleries. When you’re traveling with Mint Julep Experiences, you’ll have plenty of time to shop and eat. Famous restaurant Miss Mary Bobo’s, a former boarding house, is a great option for a traditional family-style Southern lunch.

Before leaving down, we’ll take you to one more very special place. Jack Daniel’s grave site is located in Lynchburg Cemetery not far from the downtown square. Mint Julep Experiences has special permission to take tour guests here to honor him. You can even raise a glass to Jack, if you like!

You’ll then head back from Lynchburg to Nashville to conclude your day. The Jack Daniel’s Hometown Experience will have you back downtown around 4:00 p.m.
